Bang effect in the Oberwaltersdorf murder case in the district of Baden (Lower Austria): Just on the day of the detention assessment, the suspected husband made a confession. The 64-year-old stabbed his wife about a dozen times with a chisel. His lawyer pleaded manslaughter.
The husband was sorry and confessed in full during his most recent interrogation, about two months after the bloody crime. In the presence of his lawyer Manfred Arbacher-Stöger, after weeks of silence, he finally wanted to clear his conscience.
“He cannot live with this and hopes for a fair and reasonable punishment,” his lawyer told the Krone. “The accompanying circumstances play an important role in this law. That is why we are not arguing for murder, but for manslaughter,” Arbacher-Stöger explains. “The husband confessed to the crime,” confirms Erich Habitzl, spokesman for the public prosecutor in Wiener Neustadt, when asked.
“Act in Affect”
After a morning argument with his 57-year-old wife, the 64-year-old grabbed a chisel and stabbed her about a dozen times. He then called 911 himself.
The dispute is said to have been preceded by marital problems and humiliation. A divorce was imminent. Until the morning of August 24: “It was clearly an act of passion,” said Arbacher-Stöger. The crime tools were only two meters away from the bed, within easy reach, to protect yourself from burglars.
