In Pölstal (Murtal district), a recently registered hybrid vehicle caught fire within minutes on Friday morning. No one was injured.
At around 6:15 a.m., a 64-year-old from the Murtal district parked his car in front of a bakery to do some shopping. The man had previously only driven a few miles in his newly registered hybrid vehicle.
Vehicle completely burned out
When the Murtaler returned to his parked car a few minutes later, he suddenly noticed smoke in the engine compartment area. The flames then broke out and the vehicle, worth about 25,000 euros, immediately caught fire. Alerted emergency services from the fire brigades of Möderbrugg, St. Oswald and Oberzeiring were able to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent the flames from spreading to the building just meters away.
Buildings were also damaged
However, there was also minor damage to the bakery building for a previously unknown amount. No one was injured in the accident.
