The wave of protests that have been against the Serbian government for months are increasingly paralyzing the country. The protests are mainly supported by students and students. To prevent school blocks, school management has now arranged online lessons. But the authorities have now deposited more oil in the fire.
“Online lessons are not a solution and unacceptable,” said the participants in a protestrally in the city of Novi Sad. Central students traveled from all parts of the country, many of them were already on foot or by bike in the North Serb city on Friday evening. Countless teachers also came to the protest.
“Continuation of the school year is meaningless”
The protests include concerts and speeches from students and teachers. “The school must change, we have to listen to you,” Tanja Notaroš teacher told the many young people protested. The 18-year-old Belgrade student Mateja Fejndović said that the continuation of the school year was meaningless because the students “stopped for five months”. “Online lessons will not end the blockages,” the young people emphasized. “We will not participate.”
The Gulf of Protest in Serbia, which has been persistent for months, was fueled by the collapse of a Vordach station on November 1, in which 16 people were killed. If it was initially trained by the cause of the accident, the almost daily massive protests are now directed against the government of President Aleksandar Vučić. Critics accuse Vučić of supporting his power on corrupt networks, limited media freedom and manipulated elections.
