International community condemns ‘terrible attack’ on former prime minister of Japan

All world leaders agree on the virtues of the deceased and have sent their condolences to Shinzo Abe’s family and the Japanese people.

Several presidents and senior international officials held the “horrific” attack that ended the life of the former prime minister of Japan, Shinzo Abeoand have claimed it is an “irreparable loss” at a “dark and sad” moment for society.

Among them the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchezhas converted the “total and absolute” condemnation on behalf of Spain into aggression, while its French counterpart, Emmanuel MacronFrance has sent its condolences to the family of Abe, “a wonderful prime minister”, and to the Japanese people.

The Russian President Vladimir Putinexpressed its condolences to the former president’s family and condemned that “a criminal has shortened the life of a flamboyant statesman who has long led the Japanese government and who has achieved great development in relations between the two countries”.

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnsonsaid he felt “incredibly sad” at the news from Japan of the death of Abe, who was shot during a campaign rally in the southwestern city of Nara.

For its part, the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, has expressed his “sadness” and “shocked” at Abe’s death and expressed his “deepest solidarity” with his family, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and “our Japanese friends”. “We are with Japan in these difficult times,” he emphasized.

To them is added the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who described the incident as “tragic” and recalled that Abe was “a dear friend.” “He was a global statesman, an outstanding leader and an extraordinary administrator. He devoted his life to improving Japan and the world,” he said.

The South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeolalso expressed its condolences to the family and the Japanese people who have lost “a respected politician” while his counterpart Romanian, Klaus Iohannishas described Abe as a “defender of democracy and multilateralism, as well as a close friend”.

The Turkish head of state Recep Tayyip Erdoganmade similar statements and condemned the “horrific attack” that ended the life of a “dear friend”, words used before the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albaniannoted that “Abe was one of Australia’s greatest friends internationally”.

For its part, the Israeli President Isaac Herzoghas described Abe as “one of the most influential leaders of the modern world,” adding that of the Indonesian governmentwho has expressed his “deepest condolences” to the Japanese people and government.
