On Monday, the Regional Court of Vienna and the convicts of the convicted persons in the Causa Buwog – with a delay of six days – were sent the written judgment of the Supreme Court. In the coming days, the judge of Austria will ask the former finance minister Karl-Heinz Grasser to take prison.
“The verdict has just been delivered,” confirms Norbert Wess, who, together with Manfred Ainedter, represents the former Minister of Finance, who is legally convicted for unfaithfulness and illegal gift acceptance. Now the days are freedom for the former politician. Because when the request to start in prison, Grasser has 30 days to take care of. If he doesn’t do this, he will be arrested.
Low -free OGH now delivered
The Supreme Court (OGH) had confirmed the conviction of the first court in the Causen Buwog and Terminal Tower Linz just over a month ago, but halved the punishment for Grasser in prison for four years. Especially because of the long procedure of almost 16 years.
Michael Dohr, Walter Meischberger’s lawyer, sentenced to three and a half years, also confirms that the judgments were made. He expects the judge to deliver the letter at the start of the prison in the coming week. This also specifies the prison in which the prison sentence must be started.
Ainedter assumes that this will be the case with Grasser in the “Ziegelstadl” in Innsbruck, especially because his client lives in Kitzbühel.
