The president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Sunday that he ordered the reopening and expansion of the Alcatraz -maximal security prison, where he intends to accommodate the “most violent” criminals in the United States.
In a message on his social truth account, the president reported that he ordered the Federal Prison Office (BOP), that together with the Ministry of Justice, the Department of Internal Security and the FBI, the maximum security prison that closed more than 60 years ago.
“We will no longer tolerate those repeated perpetrators who sow rot, bloodshed and chaos in our streets,” said Trump. In his message today he also suggested that immigrants without papers can be sent to Alcatraz when he is reopened.

The prison with an extension of 2.01 km² closed a year after three men escaped and disappeared, the history that various Hollywood films inspired. The BOP said, however, that the closure was due to the high editions, the maintenance of prison costs between 3 and 5 million dollars.
Trump had already suggested that Alcatraz had to be opened again last January, after signing an order to send immigrants to Guantanamo with an alleged criminal record.
