In the dispute with American universities, the US government, under President Donald Trump of Elite University Harvard, does not want to grant new financing. Minister of Education Linda McMahon informed Harvard President Alan Garber about it in a letter that seems to be full of mistakes.
The letter from McMahon was public through X, but some people were not interested in the content, but mainly rhetoric and spelling of the Minister of Education.
There are not only nested sentence constructions that change sequences of times and incomplete sentences.
A user even started the classic red pencil and marked all text passages of the official letter (see article below) that contain grammatical errors:
Trump’s “Secretary of Education” wrote about a “systemic pattern of violations of federal law”. What was meant was probably a “systematic pattern”.
“Hardly any deadly”
The number of corrections is so numerous that the correspondent of the White House of the “Independent”, Andrew Feinberg, said stunned: “Who wrote this is hardly a note.”
However, not everyone believes that McMahon has made so many mistakes. “Your letter is okay,” some people who have consulted the AI chatbot of Elon Musk Platform X for checking chatgpt or grock.
Writing not corrected by Harvard
The rumor is now also refuted that Harvard himself corrected the letter, published on social media and sent them back to McMahon.
The American government is hard against universities, who adopts a left-liberal orientation. In particular, there are sights for programs for promoting disadvantaged groups that must compensate for discrimination based on origin, gender or skin color. Trump rejects this as an expression of an “awakened ideology”.
Financed subsidies in billions of accounts
Harvard, however, refuses – unlike other universities – extensive requirements of Washington. In view of this, the government entered considerable funds: Trump placed a total of $ 2.2 billion (around 1.9 billion euros) a few years of federal subsidies and around $ 60 million of current contracts with the university.
The university remains steadfast: admission procedures, rules of conduct and personnel decisions want to keep the renowned educational institution in their hands themselves. She defends herself legally against Trump’s action.
