Curriculum vitae, service records, extracts from the criminal record and insurance: a Southern Styrian would have diligently falsified all this for years. This gave the man a “clean slate” when looking for a job.
Last year, police received an anonymous tip that a 49-year-old from the Leibnitz district has allegedly forged several specially secured documents over the years. Police officers from the Leibnitz Criminal Investigation Group took over the investigation. The public prosecutor’s office in Graz has since ordered a search and the police have been able to obtain large amounts of incriminating data records.
Difficulty finding a job
The 49-year-old confessed to the allegations, the amount of the damage is currently still under investigation. As a motive, the man, who had been convicted several times, stated that he had had problems looking for a job because of his “imperfect past life”. He wanted to get a “clean slate” with the fakes carried out between 2014 and 2018.
He was able to keep this up to the end, because he kept finding work. Southern Styria was generally reported.
