“No Harbinger” – Quake shook several Greek islands

An earthquake of the thickness 6.1 has several Greek holiday islands of Shaked on Wednesday evening. Shocks were not only felt on islands such as Kos, Rhodes and Crete, but also in distant Cairo.

The center of the earthquake was south of the island of Kasos, according to the US-Bergenwarte USGS. The Earth epicenter at 1:51 am (local time, 00:51 hours CEST) was at a depth of 78.4 kilometers, about 15 kilometers from the Kasos-Lessel Capital Fry.

No injured
Although it was felt in a wide area according to the Greek media, there were no injuries or major damage.

Authority does not expect a strong after -shock
The head of the Oasp earthquake authority has calmed people on Wednesday: “I believe that this earthquake will not follow strong aftershocks,” Ethymios Lekkas told the ERT television station. “It cannot be considered a harbinger of a larger earthquake.”

Moreover, he made it clear that the explosion of the earth had nothing to do with the countless earthquakes registered on the Greek island of Santorino in the winter.

From the end of January, thousands of earthquakes around Santorin and the neighboring islands were registered. According to experts, such a series of earthquake since 1964 no longer existed in the area.
