Due to a 24-hour rail strike, hundreds of trains failed in Italy on Friday. The workload influenced both regional, intercity and high-speed trains, as the State Railways (FS) announced.
The FS (Ferrovie dello Stato) had called in the past few days to find out before they go to the train station and – if possible – move their journey. The strike was declared by a few trade union associations that require the renewal of the collective agreement of the railways.
The comic was initiated by the Links -Wing Workers’ Associations USB and SGB. They require wage increases, better working conditions and more security for staff. The conductors were recently attacked and injured.
Postponed because of the first papal grant
However, the strike should have taken place on 17 May, but was canceled after a request from the Guarantee Committee not to cause excessive discomfort at the first trade fair of Pope Leo XIV. The trade unions therefore postponed the protest until May 23.
