The power error in Nice decreased to a nightly fire on a transformer. Mayor Christian Estrosi described crime on X as “malignant”. Various French media report that the public prosecutor suspects – as in Cannes. According to Estrosi, the electricity was quickly recovered.

On Saturday, 160,000 households in and around Cannes were cut off of the electricity grid for hours. Earlier there had been burns at night at an electricity work. The gendarmerie comes from a criminal background. Moreover, a mast fell on a high voltage line. In the first instance there was no information about whether the power outages in Nice was related to that in Cannes.
Film festival was also affected
The prizes were awarded on Saturday evening at the Film Festival in Cannes. The award ceremony went normally. The Pavilion festival has its own independent power supply. The operation continued to run normally during the power outages in the city. Film screenings in the “Cineum”, a multiplex cinema outside the middle, were interrupted.
