The office of the federal public prosecutor in Frankfurt am Main has charged three alleged spies. The men would be commissioned by a Russian secret service to spy on a former Ukraine officer – possibly with the intention to kill.
The defendants are a Ukrainian, an Armenian and a Russian. At the beginning of May 2024, the Armenian would have received the order of a Russian secret service to spy a man in Germany. This had fought for Ukraine during the war. The accused probably spy would have recruited the other two men.
It is said that you have tried to guide the former Ukrainian officer on 19 June for a meeting in a cafe in the center of Frankfurt. There the alleged agents wanted to identify the man and obtain more information about him. However, he had previously contacted the German police and had not come to the meeting.
Allegations in Russian media
A decision by the Federal Court shows that the target person in Ukraine worked for military secret service. In Russian media he was accused of committing war crimes by participating in killing Russian soldiers.
