Head kept – Caught in the current under Rock: Mrs. Saves Husband

Date:

A man in the US state of Alaska had several guardian angels during a walk: he was trapped in a stream with his face down from a boulder. The man survived – also because his wife kept his head up until the rescue employees arrived.

Kell Morris and his wife took a walk near the Godwin Glacier in the south of Alaska on Saturday. At one point where Morris could not avoid the loose rocks on the non-developed path, the accident happened: “The whole side slid under me”, the newspaper “The Guardian” quoted the 61-year-old.

Morris slid a slope of about six meters and landed in the water with his face. There was a boulder of 318 kilograms on its back, the weight of which was somewhat absorbed by the surrounding rocks. This prevented Morris from being crushed. But he had severe pain in his leg and expects his left thighs to break.

Rescue with a private -helicopter
Morris’s wife, Jo Roop, tried to free her husband for about half an hour without success. Then she called the rescue workers. Here Morris was again a lot of luck: a member of the voluntary fire brigade brigade heard the emergency call. He worked for a tourist company that promotes tourists with a helicopter. The man made the helicopter available for saving the accident. So the firefighters who did not come to the scene of the accident could jump out of the helicopter with their off -road vehicle.

Woman kept head over water
When the emergency services arrived, Morris had already cooled and Roop kept her husband’s head out of the water to prevent him from drowning. “I think that without the help of the private helicopter we needed at least 45 minutes to get to him. And I am not sure if he had so much time,” described the seriousness of the situation.

“One, two, three, push”
The firefighters easily raised the boulders with the help of an air cushion. “But then it was only said with brute force, one, two, three,” said Crites. “Seven men were able to raise the rock so far that the victim could be withdrawn.”

Morris was taken to a hospital that he was allowed to leave after two nights – intact. “I expected him to recover, but not that he would get away without scratch,” said Crites. Morris himself said, “I was very lucky. God took care of me.” In the future, however, he did not want to challenge his happiness again. “We will no longer take a new way,” he said
