A wild boar has bitten a 57-year-old Italian woman on a beach near Genoa. The animal may have been attracted to the smell of a pizza the woman was holding. After the attack, almost all the swimmers fled, only one tourist helped the injured.
According to the Italian, the wild boar suddenly came up to her and bit her arm, even though she was sitting quietly on a towel. Then the animal ran away from the beach, which is not far from the city of Genoa.
The woman was clearly injured, but most swimmers quickly left the beach after the attack. Only a single tourist approached after the boar disappeared and called for help. The woman has already undergone rabies prophylaxis.
Not the first incident
In Italy, wild boars have repeatedly attacked people in recent months, for example in Rome, where they also like to dig in the waste. The number of animals has increased significantly. The Coldiretti Agricultural Association estimates that 80,000 wild boars live in the Liguria region.
