A non-commissioned officer from the Hörsching barracks near Linz was jailed for one year for sexually abusing subordinates. The verdict is already final.
There were serious allegations against a 34-year-old non-commissioned officer who had been stationed at Hörsching airbase since June 2016. The soldier is said to have invited individual subordinates and also comrades to his home for a long time and then touched them immorally. All those involved are said to have drunk a lot of alcohol before. In addition, the man is said to have passed on housemates and young recruits during the night.
Recruit informed superiors
The investigations began in February of the previous year after a recruit notified his superior and filed a complaint. It was only then that the full extent of the attacks became known. In total, four young men are said to have become victims of the professional soldier since 2013. The investigation was discontinued for a fifth man.
The non-commissioned officer stood before the judge at the subdistrict court in Wels on Monday. The verdict: The soldier, who was released from the army after the charges became known, will face a year in prison. He was also sentenced to a fine of 3,600 euros. The verdict is already final.
