In a dilemma – price hikes affect everyone: will bowls be empty soon?

Date:

Inflation and shortages in supply are pushing up pet food prices. Given the current high cost of living, this presents pet owners with a dilemma.

A new price shock every day. However, things are particularly bad for pet owners right now. You don’t just have to dig deep in your pocket to survive. Pet food prices have risen above the average inflation rate in recent weeks. Delivery bottlenecks due to Corona and the war in Ukraine are causing prices to explode. Many pet owners are therefore dependent on support.

Food and money donations are reduced
This is also confirmed by Ramona Weinguny of the pet food trough – the social board for pets: “Demand has increased significantly.” And the animal lover is not very optimistic about the future: “The prices sometimes change daily. This makes the calculation more difficult. Another problem is that more and more donations are not forthcoming. Many of our supporters are also affected by the price increases. You have food necessary for your own darlings.’

Many animals end up on the street
When vet bills are added, many animal lovers have to ask themselves, “Do you eat something yourself or do you omit it for the sake of your loved one?” Many have apparently decided against the four-legged friends in recent weeks. Because the local animal shelters are full of abandoned dogs, cats and other former darlings. And the climax may not have been reached yet. By the way, the animal corner “Krone” also supports Viennese needy and their four-legged friends with food and veterinary costs.
