More than a year after the attempted arson on a synagogue in North German Oldenburg, the perpetrator was instructed in a psychiatry (see video above). A court saw it as proven that the 28-year-old was not responsible for paranoid schizophrenia at the time of crime.
As reported, the accused had thrown a fire brigade at an entrance door of the synagogue in Oldenburg on April 5, 2024. However, a fire was created, the door was damaged by soot deposits. The Jewish church was empty at the time, so there was no injuries.
The subsequent procedure was then about the accusation of attempted arson. At the start of the trial last Wednesday, the 28-year-old stated that he had suffered a psychotic boost. He did not take his prescribed medicines and wanted to “warn” Jews because they believed in the wrong God.
Only after months identified
The man from the region had fled after the crime and could only be identified months later after extensive investigations. The employees of the Lower Saxony State Court were advised by an expert and came to the conclusion that 28-year-old could not control his behavior. Because they continue to classify him as potentially dangerous, he was instructed in a psychiatric hospital for an indefinite period.
