Incident in Mallorca – Boy Touches Rochen – has deep cuts

Date:

On the Spanish Mediterranean island of Mallorca, a boy has touched a poisonous cute crook and suffered a deep cut. The Marine Protection Foundation of the Palma aquarium confirmed the incident and announced that more and more rays appeared on the coasts of Mallorca and the other Balearic Islands.

The phenomenon can be observed in the Spanish Mediterranean Sea. The most recent incident took place on the beach of the Magaluf Tourist carpet in the southwest of Mallorca. A boy wanted to stroke stechrochen on Sunday afternoon and walked up a deep cut on the arm. A lifeguard connected the wounded and opted for the emergency call. The boy was then treated in a medical center.

Sting of spiked rays have different toxins at the tail point. This poison can leave deep wounds in humans and lead to severe pain that takes hours. It is especially dangerous when the animal touches the chest or abdominal area.

Here you can see a message from the Marine Foundation to the Rochens -Supernung:

20 Devil Rays stranded
Previously, five devil rays were stranded on the Balearic Islands, about 20 more in other parts of Spain. This was unusual, said the Navy Foundation. In the municipality of Calvia, a stranded devil beam had caused not only for swimmers, but also among residents. The Mallorca Zeitung reported that the animal was eventually put asleep. The marine animals sometimes look confused and have been swimming in different directions for a long time. Many die on the beach.

Different poisonous species on Balearic Islands
Teufels rays are threatened with extinction and can be seen, among other things, at a wing width of up to six meters. They are medium size to very large rays with a rhombin -shaped body, their eyelash -shaped tail is short compared to other types of seals. The skin is flexible and not -to or rough. Another distinctive function is a kind of horn with which you can lead plankton and small fish in her mouth.

In addition to the devil rays, there are also ordinary or pelagic rays and eagle rays on the Balearian islands. These are often considerably smaller. Eagle rays only use their poison in the sting if there is a threat, but this is dangerous for people.

Correct behavior when encountering
There are around 630 radent types worldwide, many are harmless to people. If you see a stabbing or devil beam or an injured or confused animal, you should not touch it and choose the emergency number 112. “Your hint can be decisive – both for the animal’s well -being and to understand what is happening,” said the Navy Protection Foundation with regard to the increase in observations. Depending on which animal and what kind it is, marine or species protection would be informed. Teufels rays have already been removed, it said.
