Something went wrong with a routine operation from Stray “Petzi”. The result: 9000 euros in treatment costs to save his life. “We for the animal” now asks for donations.
Completely deferred eyes, chronic runny nose, the ears full of mites: When “Petzi” was caught, the lost seed would probably have fought for years before his life. “He urgently needed medical care,” says Alice Siebenbrunner of “We for the Animal”. The association of Loipersdorf i. B. provides cases such as he – Zwerddom, orphan cats and animals whose owners died. Nobody is officially responsible for them all. But “Petzi” was lucky, took faith in his foster family and got the chance of a real home.
Huge burn on the stomach after routine operation
“His teeth were in a terrible state, he must have had insane pain for a long time, so all the teeth had to be pulled before mediation,” said Siebenbrunner. But the actual routine operation did not go according to plan “petzi” suffering a cardiac arrest. He survived, but a few days later a handmade, necrotic burn suddenly formed on the stomach. “For ten days we had treated him an outpatient clinic in another veterinary practice, but the wound devoured, Petzi had a high fever and we had to take him to the Parndorf Veterinary Clinic,” says Siebenbrunner.
Insurance of the vet only pays a small part
A real martyrdom started for the hangover, which had already had so much: he was treated in Parndorf for three weeks, had to be put in general anesthesia every two days – costs: 7700 euros. Back home followed almost daily trips to the vet to change the association and laser treatment – for six weeks. It cost a total of 9,000 euros to save the life of “Petzis”. Costs that the liability insurance of the original veterinarian should actually cover. But: this only pays 2000 euros. Siebenbrunner: “Different veterinarians assume that the fire could come from a heating blanket used by animals in operations. Unfortunately this happens more often than you think.”
No error, but costs
“The fact is: we have, Petzi ‘back in this state. We are not to blame, but we will stay at the expense. There was no alternative to us than the treatment. Otherwise we should have let it sleep.” The association, which lives exclusively on donations and currently 37 velvet legs in the Cat House in Loipersdorf I. B. cared for, is desperate – and requires help.
Hope for a happy ending
Siebenbrunner: “In addition to our operating costs for veterinarian, food and care in the middle of the baby cat, this can only do this. And” Petzi “has fought like this, everyone likes him-earns that we have also fought for him. “Incidentally, the fight was worth it – the wound is not yet completely healed, but the chronic runny nose and the other symptoms have disappeared since” Petzi “has started his teeth. Now only hopes for a financially happy ending.
