During a climbing training for advanced users there was a serious accident in Bad Goisern (Upper Austria). A Vorarlberg woman (28) apparently overlooked a climbing hook and then fell a few meters. She was seriously injured.
The 28-year-old from Vorarlberg has been with three other participants in an Advanced climbing training in the Wiesberghaus in the municipal area of Bad Goisern. The trainer was a 54-year-old Grazer.
On Tuesday evening the tour plan was made for the next day in the group and agreed as the purpose of the “Watergroefvilaar”. Due to the implementation of the 28-year-old during the last few days and her earlier knowledge, the trainer saw no problem to have it act as a leadership of a rope team.
Course ladder went on
The 54-year-old came for the first time in the route with two participants on a three-way rope, the 28-year-old climbed behind it like a provisional climb with her partner in a two-way class. The group of three climbed the first rope length around 10.20 am and reached the standard. Seconds later they suddenly heard a scream and then saw that the 28-year-old was on a small band. The instructor immediately cropped to her, first aid provided and made an emergency call.
Woman had severe pain
The Vorarlberg woman was oriented and accessible, but complained about serious pain. She stated that she almost climbed a drill hook about the trainer or saw it too late. The hook was approximately at hip height, but a few meters from the climbing line. When she crossed the hook, her foot slid away and crashed about five meters. She was saved by the crew of the emergency helicopter with the dew and flew seriously injured to a hospital.
