The wreck of the luxury yacht Bayesian, which was sunk in Sicily in August 2024, was brought to the surface. The entire storage room must be completed on Saturday.
The ship was raised by two ship cranes. The hull has appeared again and is located on the water surface between the two cranes, Italian media reported. The port authority confirmed that the full recovery of the ship will be completed on Saturday morning.
After the storage room, the yacht is kept upright at night and carefully brought the “Hebo Lift 10” to the port of the Sicilian city of Termini. There it is placed on a specially made steel frame that is already available on the quay.
Eight loops were installed to increase
The sailing yacht had fallen on 19 August last year and was on the seabed in front of the port of Porticello near Palermo at a depth of approximately 50 meters. It was now returned to the surface after the 72 -meter -long mast was cut on Wednesday. Before the ship can be brought ashore, the engineers must strengthen and increase the loops.
A total of eight main tillers were installed for the elimination of the 56 -meter -long Bayesian – of which four were placed under the bow. All eight loops are part of a specially developed lifting system made of steel ropes, designed for use with one of the most powerful maritime cranes in Europe.

Seven people died in the ship’s accident, including the British Tech billionaire Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter. 15 people could save themselves. The office of the public prosecutor in Termini Imerese is investigating three people because of the ship’s accident: the New Zealand captain, the technical officer and against a sailor. The charges are negligent.
After the death of a Dutch diver on 9 May during the rescue work, a second investigation was started, in which three employees of the Dutch company Smit Salvage, for whom the victim worked, was investigated. Against the three, it is determined for manslaughter and violation of the safety regulations of professional safety.
