Spectacular accident Tuesday afternoon in the Tyrolean Oberland: A farmer (69) had just finished haymaking in Nauders (Landeck district) on a mountain meadow when the tractor slipped and fell hundreds of meters over a steep slope. The farmer was able to jump out of the vehicle before the first rollover.
The memorable incident happened around 2 p.m.: After the work was done, the 69-year-old local was about to drive his tractor to a haystack when the vehicle suddenly began to slide on the pasture and fell several times over about 300 meters over steep terrain. The agricultural vehicle eventually came to a stop on its roof.
“According to witnesses, the man was able to jump out of the tractor before the first overturn,” the police said. However, the farmer was injured.
To the hospital by helicopter
Two shepherds finally made an emergency call. After receiving first aid at the accident site, the 69-year-old flew an emergency helicopter to the district hospital in Zams.
