There was a happy ending on Monday for a cat in Krenglbach (Upper Austria), who had been in an extremely difficult situation after a fall and would probably have died without help. The animal stuck in a curved sewer tube and could not free itself. With the help of the pipe camera, belts and lubricants it was possible to save them.
It was while cleaning up and cleaning work after storms in Krenglbach who made the accident possible. A rain gutter was temporarily demolished by the homeowners to better clean the terrace.
Only she knows how and why the cat had fallen into the open sewer tube. In any case, she fell backwards on Monday afternoon and got stuck at a depth of one meter with the body behind a pipe arch of 90 degrees.
Miser
“We were warned by the owners who belong to their miserable Miauw, but did not see the cat and could not reach her,” says Gregor Finster of Tierhilfe Gusennal.
The situation was a challenge for the helpers. “We then searched for her with a pipe camera and in this way we could get an accurate picture of the inside and the state of the animal,” Finster said.
After that a lot of sensitivity was needed. “With the help of a wire we could put a belt around it and carefully pull it forward.”
Slight rescue operation
To reduce friction and prevent injuries, the pipe was previously treated with a food -safe lubricant. “The rescue lasted about 45 minutes. The cat was already very exhausted and did not respond aggressively to us.”
After the cuddly Tiger had passed the pipe arch, he could finally be carefully freed by hand. The owners were overjoyed.
“Fortunately, the animal had survived the incident in a good time. It was very tired. It was unharmed, but was taken to a veterinarian as a precaution.”
The drain pipe is now covered again.
