According to a media report, two siblings, aged 8 and 25, died in a fireworks show that got out of hand in western France. In addition, late Thursday night, a third person was seriously injured when fireworks exploded into a crowd of spectators, France 3 Pays de la Loire broadcaster reported.
In other media reports, the two’s ages were listed as 7 and 24, respectively, and the injured person was described as a member of the same family.
Tragedy on National Day
The incident happened in the village of Cholet in the department of Maine-et-Loire, where on Friday evening, as in the rest of France, a historic date was celebrated: on July 14, the country commemorates the storming of the Bastille in 1789, seen as the symbolic beginning of the French Revolution.
