Our Italian neighbors suffered heavy fires on Friday – the plumes of smoke could be seen for miles!
On Friday, a wildfire broke out on the Austrians’ home beach on the Adriatic Sea. Due to the persistent drought, a field and forest near the lighthouse “Faro” caught fire. Several fire brigades from the region came out to extinguish the fire.
“It was feared that the wind would drive the flames to neighboring forests and as far as Lignano,” the Italian authorities said. Helicopters also went out. The smoke could even be seen as far as Grado at night. The fire was brought under control on Saturday evening.
