Tragic accident at the practice parking lot of a driving school in Voitsberg in Western Styria. A 41-year-old woman received her first motorcycle lesson there, crashed into a tree and died of her injuries.
Shortly before 6 p.m., the unit in the practice parking lot was almost finished when the accident happened: according to the police, the 41-year-old wanted to drive another round to practice starting and stopping. She lost control of the wheel and came to a stop head-on into a tree!
Emergency vehicle was used for other purposes
Despite protective clothing and a crash helmet, the woman eventually suffered fatal injuries – although the driving instructor present immediately started CPR and alerted the emergency services. An ambulance from Voitsberg was on the scene five minutes after being alerted. Since the vehicle of the emergency doctor from Voitsberg was being used for another operation at the time of the accident, an emergency doctor who lives not far from the accident site and who happened to be at home was organized. He took over supplies until the arrival of the helicopter crew.
Attempts at CPR Failed
Even after more than an hour, attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful and the woman’s death had to be determined at the scene. The crisis intervention team was alerted to receive the first responders, the student drivers present, the driving instructor and those present. The 75 hp motorcycle is now being examined by an expert.
