While Hoch “Jürgen” heats us up to 37 degrees this week, the eternally young discussion about bare breasts in the bathroom flares up again…
“She is topless”, Reinhard Fendrich sang in the 80s and scored a summer hit with it. Topless swimming was then at its peak. The historic beginning was made with the Krapfenwaldbad in the chic Döbling district of Vienna, shortly after Austria was hit by a “topless wave”. In outdoor pools, by the lake and by the gravel pond, girls and women freed themselves from their tops.
Then things went quiet again about the exposed woman’s breast, although it’s still allowed – until a heated discussion flared up again a few weeks ago. Because in our neighbors in Göttingen, Germany, the city council has decided that everyone can go topless in the swimming pools, but only on weekends.
“All breasts are equal before the law”
The SPD wants to take a similar path in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel: Here too, topless in swimming pools should be expressly allowed for all guests, in the interest of equality. According to the motto “Before the law all breasts are equal”, whether male or female. The SPD politician Reineke-Rügge thinks it is no longer contemporary that such gender differences are made in 2022.
At the same time, more and more women are cooling off completely covered. In Austria people are relaxed, bare breasts are allowed in four public swimming pools in Graz. But at the same time also burkinis, if they are tight.
It is also relaxed in Lower Austria. The Deputy Mayor of Salzburg SPÖ, Bernhard Auinger, says: “Topless is allowed on the square or on the sun lounger, there are no complaints. When swimming, however, the bathing rules apply, which means that you must go into the water with your clothes on.” About the burkini he says: “We have always spoken out against it, there are also alternative solutions: Some models absorb so much water.”
“Nude icon” champions diversity
Entertainer Wendy Night – someone who regularly flirts across the TV screen the way God made her – obviously has no problem with nudity. In the current discussion, she advocates diversity: “If you want to get dressed, you have to get dressed. If you feel more comfortable naked, you should undress.” By the way, she undresses in private from 30 degrees – and Hoch “Jürgen” will certainly bring it in the coming days…
