A paraglider experienced dramatic moments in the Andelsbuch community in Vorarlberg on Sunday. The man suddenly collapsed and fell from a height of about 20 meters to the ground, sustaining serious spinal injuries and having to be airlifted to a Swiss special clinic.
On Sunday at 5:15 PM, a paraglider departed from the launch site Niedere in Andelsbuch for a training flight. After about 15 minutes of flight time, the paraglider pilot dropped a little too low.
He collided with a tree and fell to the ground from a height of more than 20 meters, according to the police. The man suffered serious head and chest injuries as a result of the impact.
After the emergency on site, the paraglider flew with the emergency doctor helicopter Christophorus 8 to the cantonal hospital in St. Gallen in neighboring Switzerland. There, the victim is being treated at the East Swiss Spine Center.
