On Sunday afternoon, there was a tragic incident in an outdoor swimming pool in St. Valentin in the Lower Austrian district of Amstetten: a six-year-old boy had to be resuscitated after a swimming accident – fortunately with success! After resuscitation, the child was taken by emergency helicopter to a hospital in Linz and cared for there.
The boy fell into a swimming pool while visiting the outdoor pool. The lifeguard noticed him and was able to rescue the six-year-old from the water in time, the state police of Lower Austria confirmed on Monday.
The lifeguard resuscitated the child before the alarmed rescue services arrived. After the successful intervention, the boy’s life was no longer in danger.

The six-year-old is the son of a Syrian refugee family. According to the police, an investigation is underway into a possible violation of supervision.
