A weapon find in Wörthersee is currently keeping the researchers busy. The daughter of a holidaymaker had discovered an old service pistol at a depth of one meter near Pörtschach.
As has only now become known, a week ago the holidaymaker alerted the police and informed the officials about a weapon found in Lake Wörthersee. “The caller’s daughter discovered the weapon while diving about ten meters from the shore in the area of a reed belt about one meter deep,” says a “Krone” researcher: “Colleagues immediately rushed to the crime scene and determined the gun.”

The weapon is said to be an old Browning M35 service weapon, as used by the gendarmerie in the post-war period. It is unclear how the weapon ended up in the lake. It must also be checked whether the old weapon has been used in a criminal case.
