Murder in Leibnitz – wanted person who once panicked at Covid check

After the murder alarm about a mother of four (41) in Leibnitz, the police are still searching for the 24-year-old son. The Syrian is known to the authorities. The reason for this: He and a group of young men had broken Covid measures and panicked when they were checked.

In the case of the woman (41) who was found dead in Leibnitz, Styria, the search for the suspect is still ongoing. The son of the Syrian woman who was discovered in her apartment on Monday has since disappeared. He is wanted with a European Arrest Warrant.

Woman lay lifeless in the living room
It has been established that the woman could not be reached by her family on Monday and that a family member went to the apartment to check. After it was not opened, the police were called by a tenant of the multi-tenant building. This prompted the fire brigade to open the door. The Syrian woman was found lifeless on the living room floor.

It could not be determined whether the woman was employed. The son who had fled – he would have been in Graz after Monday – worked for a company in the Leibnitz area. The woman has another son and two daughters, all adults and living in Styria.

Family surveys are underway
Police have yet to say anything about a possible motive. The investigations in the environment and in the family would not have led to new findings for the time being. The whereabouts of the man’s father is unknown, but he did not live with the family in Leibnitz.

Freak out at Covid control
At the end of April 2021, the then 23-year-old man was first noticed by the police. He was with a large group of young men in Leibnitz on Schmiedgasse, who did not comply with the Covid measures in force at the time. The officers on a patrol pointed this out to the group, after which the situation escalated. A 23-year-old Syrian in particular attracted attention because he behaved aggressively and verbally insulted the officers. The police called in reinforcements and the situation was brought under control with six patrols. Two police officers were slightly injured, the man was arrested for resisting state authority.

The wanted man was born on January 1, 1998 in Syria. He is said to have come to Austria with his mother and brother in 2015. He is 1.78 meters tall, has brown eyes and recently wore dark, cropped hair. For several years he lived with his mother in Leibnitz in southern Styria. Until recently, he had a beard, but according to the latest findings, it has been shaved.
