At least 28 puppies were bred and sold under the worst conditions. The four-legged friends had to live in dark cellars without enough water and food. The 31-year-old who was primarily responsible is now serving a prison sentence!
The suspect in the regional court in Korneuburg in Lower Austria describes himself as an animal lover. But the accusation that she kept and sold puppies for years in appalling conditions makes that hard to believe.
Puppy dies from late effects
Without light, enough water and in their own excrement – that’s how the little ones lived until they were sold. The accused Serb pretended to be a licensed breeder. The animals were not vaccinated and passed on in poor condition. A puppy later even had to be put to sleep.
Three other Serbs are also charged who should be part of the illegal breeding: the 31-year-old’s partner, her brother and another man. The last two did not appear at the hearing.
animal cruelty conviction
In court, the first defendant says she was overwhelmed by the animals. The animal cruelty was not intentional. The prosecutor was not impressed by this confession: “What you are doing here is anything but regrettable!” She was sentenced to 21 months, seven of which were unconditional. Your partner is acquitted. He doesn’t want to know anything about the poor four-legged friends.
