2 injured in Tyrol – misled by navigation system: head-on collision!

Date:

Serious accident Monday morning on the access road to Patsch in Tyrol: A Dane (73) relied on his navigation system and drove into the oncoming lane despite the blocked row. There he eventually collided with a local’s car. Two people had to be taken to hospital with injuries.

The accident happened just before 9:30 a.m. The 73-year-old Dane drove his car from Patsch in the direction of the ramp to the Brenner highway. “After the navigation system had asked the driver to ‘keep left’ and he assumed that he was on a two-lane access road to the toll station, he drove into the left lane at the bend there,” the police said.

Crash claimed two injuries
This resulted in a head-on collision with the Austrian’s car. The Dane’s local and passenger (67) suffered serious injuries. After first aid at the accident site, the two had to be taken by ambulance to the Innsbruck clinic.

The 73-year-old apparently escaped unscathed. Significant material damage was caused to both vehicles.
