The mysterious disappearance of an electric boat was puzzling at boat rental Eppel on the Old Danube in Vienna on Monday evening. A few hours earlier, a renter is said to have borrowed the boat in question, and then he and his “captain” were gone on Tuesday. However, the alleged thief’s details were known to the company.
The owner of the boat rental on Wagramer Strasse in Vienna-Donaustadt is angry. The boat was rented out on Monday around 5 pm. Then it was not returned. The search for the entire upper and lower reaches of the Danube had failed until nightfall.

“Of course we know the tenant’s details,” reads a message on Facebook. These have been sent to the police. It remains to be seen if they match the actual thief.
On Tuesday, the police launched a new search. Around noon it was time to breathe a sigh of relief: “The boat has been found and is on its way back to home port”, Eppel reports on Facebook. The alleged thief is already under investigation.
