A lot of noise – TV presenter collapses during Premier live duel

Date:

A TV duel between the two candidates to succeed outgoing British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been canceled after a medical emergency. British broadcaster TalkTV presenter Kate McCann collapsed live on air. During a response from Secretary of State Liz Truss, a loud bang was heard on TV and Truss’s shocked expression was visible. Then it was interrupted and never continued.

The duel between the British Foreign Secretary and ex-Treasury Secretary Rishi Sunak had been going on for well over half an hour when – while Truss was speaking – there was a loud noise in the background and the Minister looked very startled. TV viewers saw Truss break off her speech, muttering, “Oh my God.”

Duel “discontinued on medical advice”
Even if McCann was apparently okay, the duel “was not continued on medical advice,” the broadcaster said. The two candidates are also doing well. Both stayed in the studio and would talk to the “Sun” readers invited to the debate, it said.

“Sun” correspondent Harry Cole, who should have moderated the duel with McCann, was absent at short notice due to a corona infection, he announced on Twitter on Tuesday morning. McCann wrote at the time that both had prepared the debate together – either in person or virtually remained open.

Truss regretted the end of the duel and tweeted that she was relieved to hear that McCann was doing well. Sunak thanked him for the “great debate” and wrote on Twitter that it was good to hear that McCann was recovering. He looks forward to being “grilled” by her again soon.

Viewers sent well wishes to Kate McCann on Twitter.
