Stelzer thanks – little hero, big: Daris (7) saved lives

Big train station for a smart boy: “Through his wise and courageous actions, young Daris saved a life. He is a hero and a role model!” With these words, Governor Stelzer honored seven-year-old Daris Bukvarevic from Steyr on Tuesday afternoon at the Linz manor.

In mid-June, the primary school student saved the life of a little girl (3), who was lying on her stomach at a depth of 1.20 meters in the family pool of the outdoor pool in Garsten. Daris had first tried to save the little child on his own, but it was too difficult for him. He ran to his mother and said, “Mom, there’s a little girl drowning!”

Ruvejda Meduseljac (34), a friend of the mother, immediately jumped into the water and pulled the little one out. The girl reacted quickly, but coughed up a lot of water.

To personally thank the young rescuer, Governor Stelzer invited him to the mansion. There he presented the boy with a certificate of gratitude and recognition from the state of Upper Austria. There was also a voucher and a football as the young man is an enthusiastic footballer.
