From April 11 you can have your now five free PCR tests in Vienna again in pharmacies. In addition to the pharmacies, the free PCR tests can also be further processed via “Alles Gurgelt”, the gargle boxes and test streets.
According to Peter Hacker (SPÖ), the Ministry of Health had now approved this test possibility on Monday evening. “I’d rather have it even faster,” Hacker says. However, the software must first be set up with which the pharmacies can check how many free tests are left of the monthly quota of the respective users. They can then freely switch between the offers in Vienna via the link.
New software
In order to allow the pharmacies to continue processing the free PCR tests, the Chamber of Commerce and the large Lifebrain laboratory had to agree on a collaboration in which the pharmacies work as subcontractors. The reason is the new regulation of the Ministry of Health, whereby the pharmacies no longer receive a test order from the federal government. The new software should now be able to centrally store all free test offers (“Alles garglet”, pharmacy, test street, gargle box) in a common documentation system.
“Austria’s only hybrid test system”
That means Vienna has “Austria’s only hybrid testing system” where you don’t have to think about where you’ve been tested and where you don’t have to decide in advance which test system to use, explains a Hacker spokesperson.
