In the US, the corona vaccine adapted to the omicron variant will be administered from September. That reports the “New York Times” Friday evening. That is why the administration of US President Joe Biden wants to offer booster vaccinations from the manufacturers Pfizer and Moderna.
The US drug agency FDA has therefore also decided not to expand the campaign for the fourth suture with the conventional corona vaccine. The modified vaccines would offer better protection against the currently dominant virus variants BA.4 and BA.5.
EMA to start testing in June
So far, in the US, the fourth sting is only recommended for people 50 and older and those with weakened immune systems. The EU medicines agency EMA started testing the ommicron vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna in June. It is not known how long the exams will last.
