How are road users with about 20 signs, traffic signs and panels supposed to find their way on this construction site in Vienna’s 23rd district?
A construction site in Gutheil-Schoder-Gasse in Liesing is currently causing astonishment. Before an underpass, motorists are faced with a confusing sea of signs that are hard to miss.

20 traffic signs, panels and signs have been installed just for the narrowing of the carriageway. Motorists are warned three times about the speed limit of 30 km/h and just as often you see the sign for overtaking motor vehicles – in a one-lane area, you know. There are also pedestrian traffic signs, a parking prohibition sign and an indication of the end of the no-parking zone, as well as warning signs.
The Department for Traffic Organization of the City of Vienna argues the flow of signs as follows: “It is a busy street, so it is recommended to display important traffic signs twice.”
