A major search took place on Sunday at the Geboltskirchen swimming lake in Upper Austria. A colleague from work raised the alarm after his friend went missing. Divers found the lifeless man around 6:20 p.m.
A 35-year-old Ukrainian citizen went swimming late Sunday afternoon with a 42-year-old Slovak colleague, both from the Grieskirchen district, at the Leithen swimming lake in the Geboltskirchen municipality. At about 4.45 pm the two swam from a jetty towards a swimming platform there. The 42-year-old swam about five meters in front of the 35-year-old.
Road after 100 meters
After about 100 meters of swimming, the Slovak could suddenly no longer see his colleague and immediately set the rescue chain in motion. The 35-year-old was only able to be rescued dead at 6:20 p.m. by divers from the fire service and water rescue from a depth of about four meters.
