An unknown igniter set fire to a residential building in Steyr (Upper Austria) five times on Monday. Thanks to the attention of residents, a disaster could be prevented. The arsonist has not yet been identified and police are asking for information.
The stranger had set fire to five times at Keplerstraße 1 in Steyr on Monday between 13:10 and 21:10. Letterboxes were set on fire three times or paper was put in the letter slot and set on fire. The perpetrator also set fire to the contents of three waste containers.
Residents discovered fires
Because the fires were usually immediately noticed by the residents of the house, the alarmed fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly. In two cases, the flashing lights themselves used the fire extinguisher to prevent worse.
The Steyr Stadtplatz Police Inspectorate is now urgently requesting information on 059133/4146-100 that could lead to the perpetrator.
