Airplane from Austria – Slovenia: small plane made an emergency landing on the highway

Date:

In Slovenia, a small plane made an emergency landing on the A2 highway near Brezje in the north of the country on Friday. The two occupants were unharmed, media reported, citing the police. As can be seen in the photos, the machine has an Austrian registration. The prisoners are said to be Austrians, the daily “Dnevnik” wrote online.

The light aircraft, which took off from the nearby Lesce sports airport, is said to have had engine problems. On departure, everything was still in order and as long as the pilot was in contact with the airport, everything went as normal.

The machine later reported problems to Slovenian air traffic control and announced an emergency landing. The plane landed about seven to eight kilometers from the take-off point.

Overturned after emergency landing
The plane landed on the highway around 2:30 p.m., authorities said. It hit a dike and capsized. The occupants were able to get out under their own power and were unharmed.

Photos published in the media showed the plane with its tail broken off in the hard shoulder. There was no collision with vehicles driving there during the emergency landing.
