Morning shock for a Tyrolean family of three! While driving on the Pass Thurn road in the municipality of Jochberg (Kitzbühel district in Tyrol), a fire suddenly broke out in her car. Attempts to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher failed. The vehicle burned out completely. Fortunately, the three occupants were unharmed.
At around 5:30 a.m., a Tyrolean couple with their 5-year-old child was walking along the Pass Thurn road. Suddenly they saw smoke coming out. They stopped their vehicle. Moments later, the car was already on fire. “They were able to leave the vehicle themselves, but first tried to extinguish the fire with the fire extinguisher,” said police spokesman Stefan Eder at the request of “Krone”.
Technical defect possible
The Jochberg volunteer fire brigade was eventually able to extinguish the fire. The family of three escaped the flames and was unharmed. “It was probably a technical defect,” explains Eder. The B161 had to be shut down for about an hour to extinguish the fire and clear the road.
Series of vehicle fires
The series of burning cars in Tyrol does not end. It wasn’t until Thursday evening that an Italian car caught fire on the Brenner motorway. The road had to be closed there as well.
