Voluntarily imposed: – Crash in Courtyards results in new flight rules

Date:

There are already permanent “accident consequences” after the crash of the small plane: As a voluntary increase in flight safety at the airport Reutte/Höfen in Tyrol, the owner community is introducing a flight calculation for the arrival and departure of non-local pilots.

Undoubtedly, these have been turbulent days for Reutte/Höfen airport operators since a small plane crashed into the roof of a house. On Friday, they turned to the press to once again present the situation from their own point of view.

From now on flight calculation for non-local pilots
You are deeply affected and shocked. “Every year, around 1,000 starts take place in Höfen without any problems. In the present case, all indications and evidence indicate that the accident was due to pilot error,” explains Wolfgang Falch, president of the Reutte aviation club, “but we do not want to prejudge the commission of inquiry.”

However, the event is also an impetus for the voluntary tightening of the landing and take-off safety net: in the future, non-local pilots will be required to submit an approach and departure calculation for their machine before being allowed to use the airport. A preliminary test flight may also be required. Falch pointed out that this has been mandatory for all local pilots for a number of years now.

Research will probably take a few weeks
However, flight operations will continue with arrivals and departures only in and out of the direction of the Lechtal. A result of the inquiry committee and the experts is expected in a few weeks. Moreover, every effort will be made to expedite the settlement of the damage to the affected residential building.
