An 83-year-old swimmer passed out in Lake Wörthersee on Sunday afternoon and then went under. After about ten minutes, the man was found by emergency services.
The large-scale operation took place in Pörtschach. An 83-year-old holidaymaker from Germany went swimming in Lake Wörthersee after a sauna session. “He lost consciousness and went under,” police said. When his wife sounded the alarm, a swimmer rushed to the rescue and, with the help of other people, was able to bring the pensioner to the shore at a depth of ten feet.
“Doctors and the emergency services of the rescue helicopter C 11 performed a successful resuscitation,” the police continued. The man was flown to the Klagenfurt clinic. It is still unclear how he is doing now.
