A fatal traffic accident occurred on the Wolfgangseestraße in St. Gilgen (Salzburg Flachgau) on Wednesday afternoon. A 55-year-old motorcyclist from Upper Austria collided with a car, but all help came too late for him.
Shortly after 3 p.m., a 76-year-old from Salzburg drove his car from St. Gilgen towards Strobl. At the same time, a 55-year-old from Andorf (Upper Austria) drove his motorcycle in the opposite direction. At kilometer 30.4 of the road, there was a head-on collision between the car and the motorcycle.
Despite the fastest possible first aid by the emergency doctor from the rescue helicopter Martin 1 and the Red Cross Strobl team, the cyclist died at the accident site.
The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to the UKH Salzburg by the Red Cross Strobl.
The road section was completely closed for about an hour and then traffic had to be stopped alternately. There were traffic restrictions until the evening hours.
