The economy and finance minister asks opposition groups for “responsibility and measures” in proposing the institutions’ plan of action to tackle the crisis in Ukraine.
The Minister of Economy and Finance of the Basque Government, Pedro Azpiazúhas defended that it is “responsible” in a government to have remnants, and that the Basque executive “used in many things”, including to cope with covid spending or to make investments.
In this way, the Basque minister referred to the nearly 1.9 billion remaining in the treasury that the Basque government currently has, asking the opposition groups to use to face the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.
In an interview with Radio Euskadi’s “Boulevard” program, Azpiazu assured that if these groups were in government, they would have “residues”, because “it is irresponsible not to have them, and it would be bad to govern” . He has indicated that the Basque government is “taking advantage of the moment” after Europe said in 2020 that “there were no rules or limits on debt” and that it has been piling up that remnant. “We use it in many things,” he clarified, including citing covid spending or investment plans.
