Threatened scandal with China – US sends next delegation to Taiwan

Date:

Shortly after the US House of Representatives President Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, which was strongly criticized by Beijing, a US delegation traveled there again. Meetings with Taiwanese politicians will cover, among other things, relations between the two republics and global supply chains.

Members of the US Congress would visit Taiwan from Sunday to Monday, the US mission in Taiwan said Tuesday. The visit is part of a trip to the Indo-Pacific region, the statement said from the representation, which performs the duties of an embassy.

Pelosi visited Taiwan last week. China sees the visit as a provocation and a violation of its sovereignty and, after his departure, started maneuvers on an unprecedented scale in the immediate vicinity of the island (see video above).

Recently, 13 Chinese warplanes entered Taiwan’s airspace on Saturday.

US: “Further deepening” of ties with Taiwan
The US government official also announced that a new trade plan for Taiwan and information about planned trade talks would be released in the coming days. The US would “further deepen” their relationship, including by strengthening economic cooperation.

The government in Beijing considers Taiwan a breakaway province and threatens all countries that maintain or establish contacts with the democratically governed island with consequences.
