One Lobau camp in Vienna remains. The squatters are training for the expected eviction. In addition, a lot of digging is already underway.
One of the original three Lobau protest camps still exists. A few hundred meters from the occupied construction site Stadtstrasse on Hirschstettner Strasse, which was evicted on Tuesday, a registered camp has been in the park on the Runde since the end of August 2021.
There, the other long-term campers can look forward to a colorful and varied program in the coming days and weeks. So Sunday is already a big welcome day for interested parties and newcomers. Right next to it, construction is already underway – on the city street, which the occupiers want to prevent, as is known.
At the same time, work is also underway on the second edition of our own newspaper, of which 150,000 copies will be distributed by the end of April. In addition, disruptive actions are planned for the SPÖ Vienna State Party Conference on May 28. It’s not even sure how the big party event will take place.
On the weekends there is a kind of training in guerrilla tactics. Everything should be peaceful, as they say. Purpose: “Preparation and Practice of Actions of Civil Disobedience.”
