Price brake dampens – Salzburg AG raises electricity prices significantly

Date:

Salzburg AG raises electricity prices at the turn of the year. From then on, the price for private customers will be 27 cents net. An increase of 138 percent! What may seem frightening at first glance is tempered for most households by the drag on electricity prices.

The price for private users rises from 11.34 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) to 27 cents. This price applies from January 1, 2023 for both new and existing customers. However, the brake on the federal government’s electricity price put an end to the rise. Households with an annual consumption of 2900 kWh must take into account an electricity bill that is 1.83 euros per month higher. With a consumption of, for example, 3500 kWh, the increase is higher by 11.66 euros per month.

The federal electricity price brake is a subsidy for energy costs. Up to an annual consumption of 2900 kWh, energy costs above 10 cents/kWh net are borne by the state up to a maximum of 40 cents/kWh net.

Also price increase for companies
For small and medium-sized businesses, the price rises from 12.59 cents to 29 cents net. Salzburg AG counters this with 100 days of free electricity. This reduces the additional costs for an average operation with an annual consumption of 10,000 kWh from 137 euros per month to 79 euros per month.
